“My pure ‘art for arts sake’ artistic practice stopped for a while after college, as the band I was in, Cranes, suddenly took off.” he writes. After recording six albums with them, touring the world extensively and nearly 8 years had elapsed, Mark eventually return to making visual art, films and more.
“More recently,” Mark adds, “I have drawn to ‘Gelli Printing’ a strange one off printing technique, and have found myself printing things the look remarkably like my work with photocopies and lettrer-print heat transfer papers. To be clear, this is NOT printing! All of my work with this technique results in unique ‘one-offs,’ its better to call it ‘gelli transfer’ because its not possible to make multiple copies.”

Perhaps best known for his past professional work as a member of the influential UK dream-pop band CRANES, Mark’s musical passion is making improv live looping guitar glitch-scapes, and building modular synths. He also works on occasion with Oslo-based musician MARTIN POWELL with a project the duo call ELECTRICITY, who will in fact be performing at the gallery during MUSIKKFEST OSLO. (see below)
