During the annual citywide art festival Oslo Open 2024,
you can visit the art group Norwegian Worldwide Artists at Schaeffers Gate 5,
who will open and begin this exhibition a few days early.

DESCRIPTION
People who move between different cultures, and absorb this in their understanding of reality.
The artist group Norwegian Worldwide Artists (NWA), consists of artists with different cultural backgrounds. This group has collaborated on projects, discussions and academic exchanges since 2007. They all work today in Norway, but possess experience, connection and history from countries all over the world. As artists, they work alone, but come together for joint projects. Through the projects, they wish to shed light on how a multicultural background can represent strength and richness for both man and art. Despite major differences in form of expression, technique, age and background, together they create a whole that no one could have created alone.

Some two hundred artists welcome visitors into their studios during Oslo Open 27 and 28 April, 2024.
From Villa Romsli in the east to Montebello in the west. During Oslo Open, you can visit Oslo’s artists in their workspace, all over the city and in your own neighborhood. Oslo Open gives you the opportunity to meet artists in their studios and have a glimpse into a space that is otherwise a part of the artist’s private sphere.

One weekend a year, professional artists from the fields of visual art and contemporary craft open the doors to their workspaces. As a visitor you are free to visit the artists at your own pace or join one of our guided tours. Oslo Open is free and open to everyone.
All studios are open from 12.00-17.00
Oslo East on Saturday and West on Sunday
Because there are so many artists participating, we split the city in two. Studios to the east of the Akerselva river are open on Saturday 22 April, while those west of the river open on Sunday 23 April. This way, participating artists can also visit artists on the other side of town. Browse and use the map at the official website for Oslo Open 2023.

Kunstnergruppen NWA inviterer til utstillingsåpning i Galleri Schæffersgate 5

OMSTILLING
Mennesker som forflyttter seg mellom ulike kulturer, og tar opp i seg dette i sin forståelse av virkeligheten.
Kunstnergruppen Norwegian Worldwide Artists (NWA), består av kunstnere med ulik kulturell bakgrunn. Gruppen har samarbeidet med prosjekter, diskusjoner og faglig utveksling siden 2007.
De arbeider alle i dag i Norge, men sitter med erfaring, tilknytning og historie fra land over hele verden.
Som kunstnere arbeider de alene, men kommer sammen for felles prosjekter. Gjennom prosjektene ønsker de å belyse hvordan nettopp en mangekulturell bakgrunn kan representere styrke og rikdom både for mennesket og kunsten.
Til tross for store forskjeller i uttrykksform, teknikk, alder og bakgrunn, skaper de sammen en helhet som ingen kunne skapt alene.

• Wendelmoed van der Veen fra Nederland med tilknytning til Sri Lanka, og nå Norge
• Grete Marstein fra Norge som i mange år har arbeidet i Slovakia og i en rekke andre land
• Eva Jingsue, fra Kina, og nå Norge
• Kari Glomsaas fra Norge, med erfaringer fra Tanzania og andre afrikanske land
